Miss Utility
Virginia 811
Virginia 811, also known as “Miss Utility,” is a free “one-call” Virginia communications center for excavators, contractors, property owners and anyone planning any kind of excavation (digging) or demolition. Miss Utility notifies all participating utilities, including ACSA, of the upcoming excavation work so they can locate and mark their underground facilities in advance to prevent possible damage to underground utility lines, injury, property damage and service outages.
Call Miss Utility Before You Dig
ACSA has three dedicated utility locators in the field each weekday to ensure all Albemarle water and sewer utilities are marked promptly and accurately. Calling before you dig is a simple step but one that can make your construction, planting or home improvement project safer while preventing service disruptions that can be inconvenient or dangerous for your neighbors.
Know the Law: Call 811 Before You Dig
In addition to being essential for safety, calling 811 before you dig is required by law. Please call at least three business days in advance of any digging or excavation work.
Miss Utility is a nonprofit organization functioning for the safety and benefit of everyone in our community by protecting underground utility lines, including Albemarle County water infrastructure.
